Meßstetten Citizen Foundation: Shaping the Future Together
In March 2026, the Meßstetten Citizen Foundation was officially established. The city provided 100,000 euros from the 2026 budget to fund its creation, and the foundation will support charitable projects within the city in the future. The foundation is part of the regional initiative "I Support the Future" by Sparkasse Zollernalb.
The bylaws were unanimously approved by the municipal council. The election of foundation board members will take place in a future meeting. The goal is to strengthen social, cultural, and charitable projects within the city in the long term. In the future, citizens will be able to actively participate – through donations or volunteer support.
Kindergarten and Sports: Investments for the Future
The city is making significant investments in childcare and sports promotion. The construction of the new Bueloch Kindergarten has been awarded to Berger GmbH from Meßstetten. With a contract value of 365,686.87 euros (gross), the work is planned to begin in April 2026 and be completed by the end of June.
In parallel, the Bueloch Sports and Recreation Facility will be redesigned. The Timberman GbR from Bitz has been awarded the contract for landscaping and garden construction with a value of 581,071.17 euros (gross). The work is scheduled to take place between April and mid-November 2026.
In addition, the construction of a new functional building on the Geißbühl Sports Ground has been decided. The firm Kubus360 from Stuttgart will handle the further planning. After the building permit is issued, tenders will follow. The construction costs are estimated at 1.28 million euros.
Practical Support for Associations and Institutions
Another focus of the municipal council was the provision of a municipal portable toilet van. The van will be made free of charge available to municipal associations and institutions – for example for events, hikes, or sports events. The Municipal Works Department will handle the transportation and connection to the water supply and sewage system. The services provided by the Municipal Works Department cost 714.00 euros (gross).
This measure is another step to strengthen the local community and provide associations with greater flexibility and support.
Overview of Further Decisions
The municipal council also approved the nomination list for the Joint Valuation Committee Albstadt. Oliver Rentschler and Ernst Berger were proposed as assessors for the next four years. The administration will inform the committee of the appointments.
In addition, the participation report of the city of Meßstetten as of 31.12.2024 was noted. The city holds shares in several municipal and private companies, detailed in the report.
Outlook and Perspectives
The decisions of the municipal council in March 2026 show a clear commitment to investment, sustainability, and community. The establishment of the citizen foundation is a milestone for the social responsibility of the city. At the same time, infrastructure and sports promotion are being significantly strengthened.
The coming months will be exciting: With the start of construction in April and the further planning for the new sports ground, Meßstetten will continue to develop – for children, youth, associations, and all citizens.
