Development and Realignment of the Leonberg Youth Committee

The Leonberg Youth Committee is a central component of youth participation in the city. It was established in 2018 as part of the youth participation concept "mach mit³" and serves as a non-partisan forum for young people who can actively engage in local political decision-making processes. Election of a New Spokesperson

The revised rules will be submitted to the Social Committee in May 2026 and subsequently to the City Council for approval. The goal is to make the Youth Committee even more transparent and efficient in order to more strongly involve young people in decision-making processes.

Structure and Participation Opportunities

The Youth Committee is composed of members who are elected from the project groups of the Youth Forum. Each project group elects one main representative and one deputy, who serve for a year in the committee. In addition, there are three youth spokespersons, the Mayor as chairperson, mentors from the political groups, and the city's youth representative.

Members must be at least 13 years old but no older than 20. The Youth Forum is held once a year to define topics for the project groups. These topics are then discussed in the Youth Committee and forwarded to the Social and Cultural Committee.

In addition to political participation, the Youth Committee also provides financial support for projects managed by the youth themselves. Members also receive a fee for attending meetings, which ensures the financial viability of their participation.
