Frankenthal in Focus: Social Services and Housing Planning in February 2026
In February 2026, Frankenthal focused on social services, integration management, and the planning of forward-looking housing projects. The city is emphasizing networking, participation, and long-term solutions.
Social Services and Housing Planning: Frankenthal Emphasizes Networking and Participation
In the second half of 2026, Frankenthal placed a stronger focus on social services and the planning of future-oriented housing concepts. In February 2026, several public meetings and projects laid the groundwork for an inclusive, intergenerational, and integrative urban society. Central to this effort is the coordination between various advisory boards, project groups, and working groups.
Communal Integration Management: Networking as a Key Strategy
The city of Frankenthal has established Communal Integration Management (KIM) as a central tool for the integration of refugees and newly arrived residents. The goal is to enable sustainable integration into the labor market, promote equal opportunities, and support social participation. A communal integration manager coordinates the networking among different actors.
Three pilot projects were in focus:
- Education Bridge School–Occupation in cooperation with the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF)
- Skilled Workers Alliances in Care to attract international care professionals
- Training and Advisory Working Group to support entry into employment
The integration manager’s position is initially funded through grants for two years, with the aim of establishing it permanently. At the same time, Frankenthal is closely collaborating with the Advisory Board on Migration and Integration, which currently has 15 members. One seat remains vacant as successor nominations from the Turkish List have been rejected.
Services for Senior Citizens: From Mobility Courses to the Integreat App
The Senior Citizens’ Advisory Board focused on digital and practical services. Ms. Tanja Frey introduced the Integreat App, which is intended to serve as a digital information platform for senior citizens. Discussions also took place regarding preparations for a Mobility Course in the East Park, which aims to provide barrier-free and intergenerational access to nature.
Another highlight was the presentation of the Frankenthal 2035 Process, which also includes planning for the future of senior citizen centers. Preparations for the anniversary year 2027 – “450 Years of City Rights Frankenthal” – were also on the agenda.
Housing and Demographics: Project Group 2 in Focus
Project Group 2 of the Frankenthal 2035 Process is intensively focusing on the topics of Housing and Demographics. During the February meeting, it was reported that a member of Project Group 5 has resigned due to professional reasons, and a successor is being sought.
Discussions regarding demographic change and the recruitment of qualified personnel – particularly in the care sector – show that housing planning and social services are closely interlinked. The city of Frankenthal is relying on participation and the inclusion of the population in decision-making processes.
Event Planning: From the International Women’s Breakfast to the Autumn Spectacle
In February 2026, preparations for central cultural and social events were also intensively advanced. The International Women’s Breakfast on March 8, 2026, led by Equal Opportunity Officer Aisha Sadagopan, is planned as a friendly exchange in a cozy atmosphere. The event will be combined with a film screening and a potluck buffet.
Another highlight is the International Festival on October 4, 2026, as part of the Autumn Spectacle, as well as the Babylonian Reading Evening on June 18, 2026. Working groups have been formed for these events, which require active participation and a commitment to deadlines.
Conclusion: Frankenthal as a Model City for Inclusion and Participation
In February 2026, the city of Frankenthal established itself as a model city for social integration, intergenerational services, and participatory planning. Through the networking of integration management, advisory boards, project groups, and working groups, the urban community is actively co-shaped. The long-term establishment of the Communal Integration Management and the inclusion of senior citizens and young people in planning processes show that Frankenthal is working toward an inclusive and resilient future.
