Social Policy Measures in Andernach: Grants and Integration Concepts in March 2026
In March 2026, Andernach focused on key social policy topics: the distribution of grants to church and social organizations and the expansion of the integration concept for refugees. The Social Committee set clear priorities in this context.
Social Policy in Andernach: March 2026 in Focus
The city of Andernach focused more strongly on social policy challenges in March 2026. The Social Committee made important decisions regarding the financial framework for non-profit organizations and presented the current status of the integration concept for refugees. These measures reflect the city's priorities: supporting the independent welfare sector, integrating those displaced by war, and ensuring social stability within the community.
Grants for Church and Social Organizations
In March 2026, it was decided to provide grants to organizations in the independent welfare sector. The Evangelical Parishes of Andernach and AWO Kell submitted applications for the year 2026. The total amount requested is €1,662.00, and the costs for events such as senior afternoons, Christmas parties, trips, and information events were recognized as eligible for funding.
The administration clarified that funds for 2026 can only be disbursed after the submission of usage reports from the years 2024 and 2025. The Caritas Association of the Rhine-Mosel-Ahr region has not yet submitted such reports and will therefore not be considered. In 2025, a total of €7,118.49 was granted to four organizations, demonstrating that the city continues to consistently support social projects.
Integration Concept and Management Concept for Refugee Accommodations
Another focus was the expansion of the integration concept for displaced persons. The management concept for the accommodations on Augsbergweg was developed and is available in several languages. It sets clear regulations for operation, care, and safety. A protection concept for violence prevention and the protection of vulnerable groups is currently under development, and the appointment of a refugee coordinator is planned to strengthen coordination and networking.
A particular aspect is the evaluation of appointing a facility manager instead of a security service. The aim is to ensure a constant presence and to identify and resolve conflicts at an early stage. This approach is intended to create an integration-oriented environment and to move the accommodations away from the character of a "camp."
Safety, Hygiene, and Regulations in the Accommodations
Safety measures in the accommodations are highly detailed. A security service ensures safety on a daily basis, while clear communication channels exist between the security personnel, social services, and the administration. Hygiene concepts, fire protection regulations, and a clearly defined procedure for rule violations complete the safety concept.
The house rules, which are binding for all residents, set clear rules for cohabitation. Violations can lead to warnings, relocation, or reports to authorities. The goal is to create a peaceful, respectful, and safe environment that promotes integration and social participation.
Outlook: Integration as a Continuous Process
The measures in Andernach show that the city is pursuing a structured and long-term approach to the integration of displaced persons and the support of social organizations. Collaboration with partners such as the Perspektive gGmbH, the Youth Welfare Office, and the Job Center is crucial in this regard. At the same time, quality assurance is ensured through team meetings, supervision, and feedback from residents.
In the coming months, the city of Andernach will gradually implement the measures, clarify the funding, and strengthen coordination with the district administration. This process is a step toward a sustainable integration policy based on respect, safety, and equal opportunities.
