Sports Policy in Ense: Renovations and Investments in April 2026
Sports have a long tradition in Ense and play a central role in the social and cultural life of the municipality. In April 2026, several key steps were taken to secure and improve the local sports infrastructure. The Committee for Education, Social Affairs, Voluntary Work, and Sports discussed and approved several proposals concerning investments in club facilities and the future viability of sports in Ense.
Renovation of the Toilet Facilities in the SG Oberense Clubhouse
A central project was the renovation of the toilet facilities in the clubhouse of SG Oberense e.V. 1973. Due to moisture damage and leaks, a comprehensive renovation was required. The measures include new sanitary equipment, tiling, screeding, and a new lighting concept. The municipality of Ense granted a subsidy of up to €6,840.17, with the club contributing a self-share of €1,315.57. The project is part of a long-term strategy to maintain clubhouses and ensure a social meeting place for both young and old.
Modernization of the Tennis Facility of Höinger SV 1924 e.V.
Another central topic was the modernization of the tennis facility of Höinger SV 1924 e.V. The club applied for both the renewal of the irrigation pump and a comprehensive renovation of the three tennis courts. The irrigation pump was rated as an "economic total loss," necessitating a renovation costing €3,322.25. The municipality of Ense granted a subsidy of €2,657.80, while the club had to cover 20% of the costs itself.
In addition, Höinger SV 1924 e.V. requested a subsidy of up to €77,040 for the renovation of the three tennis courts. The cost of this measure amounts to €78,540 (including VAT), with the club contributing a self-share of €1,500. The renovation is not carried out in the form of a conversion into all-year-round courts, but as a conventional modernization. The club argues that the facility has technically reached the end of its service life and that the drainage is defective, leading to long interruptions in play. The modernization is intended to significantly increase the playable time and make the facility almost usable throughout the year.
Strengthening Sports Promotion in Ense
In addition to the investments in infrastructure, there were also political developments in sports promotion. In April 2026, the municipality of Ense updated the music promotion guidelines, increasing the basic amount per club to €400 and the subsidy per youth member to €12. These increases reflect inflation and aim to strengthen financial support for local music associations and youth work. The municipal sports association of Ense supports such measures and emphasizes the importance of sports and culture for the community.
Outlook: Stability and Future Viability
The approved measures show that Ense is ready to invest in the future viability of its sports infrastructure. The cooperation between the municipality and the clubs is crucial for the long-term security of playing and training conditions. Furthermore, it becomes clear that politics in Ense is not only aiming for short-term improvements but also for a sustainable development of the sports offering for all age groups.
