Youth Participation and Leisure Development in Rosengarten – April 2026
In April 2026, Rosengarten has taken important steps towards stronger youth participation and leisure development – with a youth forum in the summer and new planning for a skate park.
Youth Participation in Focus – Rosengarten Looks to the Future
What Was Important This Month
- The Committee for Youth, Social Affairs, and Sports launched a youth participation project.
- A skate park in Nenndorf is in the planning phase – funded from transferred funds.
- A youth forum will take place in June 2026, involving up to 120 young people.
- The municipal district supports the forum with catering and facilities.
- Council members can attend the youth forum as observers – a sign of transparency.
Youth Participation: From Lecture to Forum
In April 2026, Rosengarten set a milestone for youth participation. The Committee for Youth, Social Affairs, and Sports decided to implement the project "Youth Participation 2026" in three phases. The first phase involves a presentation on methods of youth participation, led by Maik Peyko from TEMP Projects, followed by a discussion session. This lays the groundwork for actively involving young people in shaping their leisure and participation structures.
The second phase follows with the planned youth forum on June 13, 2026. Up to 120 young people aged 10 to 17 can submit their ideas. The municipal district not only provides the necessary facilities but also beverages and lunch – a visible signal of the value placed on youth opinions.
Skate Park in Nenndorf: From Financial Planning to Implementation
Another central topic was the skate park in Nenndorf. For the planning, 10,000 € from the 2024 budget have been carried over into 2026. These funds are to be used for the development of a comprehensive youth leisure strategy. The committee also plans to give a detailed presentation on the methodology of the youth forum and the skate park at the next meeting – also on April 9, 2026. This ensures that the planning remains transparent and community-oriented.
Youth Participation as Part of Urban Development
These projects demonstrate how Rosengarten understands youth participation not only as a form of involvement but as an integral part of urban development. Through the forum and the skate park, not only is leisure for young people improved, but also a long-term model for participation is established. In addition, the involvement of council members as observers enables a dialogue between politics and youth – a step towards participatory democracy.
Outlook: From Planning to Implementation
In May and June 2026, concrete implementations now take center stage: the youth forum in June and the preparation of the skate park. Residents can look forward to transparent and participatory processes. Rosengarten thus shows how youth participation can work in a municipality – with structure, planning, and clear goals.
