Guxhagen in March 2026 – Investments, Planning, and Partnerships

March 2026 brought important decisions for Guxhagen in the areas of infrastructure, land use, and town twinning. Here is a review of the most important topics of the month.

Investments, Planning, and Partnerships – Guxhagen's March 2026

What was important this month

  • The New Investment Program 2025–2029 was unanimously approved.
  • Electrical and HVAC works for the Town Hall and Fire Department have been awarded.
  • The Land Use Plan and Development Plan No. 6 were approved.
  • Wildflower strips along the Wollröder Feldweg were approved.
  • Twinning with Wyrzysk (Poland) is being planned.
  • The election date for the full-time Mayor has been set for 8 November 2026.

Investments and Budget: Security and Future

In March 2026, the community of Guxhagen unanimously approved an investment program for the period 2025–2029. A central element is the comprehensive renovation of the Town Hall and Fire Department. For this, electrical and HVAC work has been awarded to two companies: Elektro Schneider with a contract of 576,939.04 € gross and HM Haustechnik Melsungen with a contract of 580,918.85 € gross. The contracts were selected for economic and technical reasons.

These investments are part of an overall renovation plan that ensures the safety and functionality of the buildings while strengthening the community's infrastructure for the future. The funds will be drawn from the budget accounts "Building Management" and "Fire Protection," neither of which have been used so far.

Land Use and Development Planning: Transparent Processes

In addition, the municipal council unanimously approved the 12th amendment to the Land Use Plan as well as Development Plan No. 6 "Auf der Junkerseite." These plans are part of long-term urban development and affect the municipal area of Grebenau. According to the Building Code (BauGB), the public display of the development plan is now planned. Furthermore, parties affected under § 4 (2) BauGB must be invited to comment.

The transparency of these procedures is crucial to ensure the involvement of citizens and those affected. The community has clearly chosen an open and legally compliant process.

Partnerships, Wildflower Strips, and Mayor Election

Another highlight of the month was the decision to establish a town twinning with the Polish city of Wyrzysk. A meeting is planned to lay the foundations for long-term cooperation. Such partnerships not only promote cultural exchange, but also economic and social relations.

In addition, a wildflower strip along the Wollröder Feldweg was approved. Initiated by the Bündnis 90/Die Grüne Fraktion, this strip is intended to not only strengthen biodiversity but also improve local recreation for residents.

To conclude the month, the municipal council set the election date for the full-time Mayor for 8 November 2026. The runoff election, if required, is planned for 29 November 2026. These dates are legally fixed and provide planning security for citizens and local politicians.

Looking Beyond the Horizon: Transparency and Sustainability

March 2026 shows how important it is to bring infrastructure, planning, and citizen participation together. The investments in the Town Hall and Fire Department are a sign of responsibility for safety and the future. At the same time, the acceleration of development planning shows that Guxhagen is ready to ensure sustainable urban development.

The establishment of a town twinning and the initiative for a wildflower strip also underline that Guxhagen is not only focused on the local level, but also on cultural and ecological responsibility.

Conclusion and Outlook

March 2026 has set a clear course for Guxhagen: invest, plan, and connect. With a planned need for borrowing of 6.88 million euros and a debt level of just under 5 million euros, the community remains transparent and cautious in financial planning as well. The coming months will show how the approved projects can be implemented concretely – and what new topics will come to the agenda.
