Ludwigsfelde in Focus – Highlights and Developments in February 2026
February 2026 brought important decisions, debates, and preparations for the year ahead in Ludwigsfelde. Here is an overview of the most significant developments affecting the city and its residents.
Citizen Participation and Budget Planning in Focus
What Was Important This Month
- Budget meetings at the local and city level: Several local councils and committees discussed the 2026 budget, with the obligation to create a financial stabilization plan suspended in several cases.
- Children and Youth Policy: The local council of Ahrensdorf highlighted the youth club "Club 18 e.V." and plans closer cooperation.
- Senior and Intergenerational Work: The Senior Advisory Board is preparing the first intergenerational creative meeting and is actively involved in the citizen budget.
- Citizen Wishes and Initiatives: In several meetings, proposals and ideas from residents were addressed – from snow removal to table tennis tables and citizen budget suggestions.
- Building Planning and Traffic: The Building Committee approved the preliminary draft of the land use plan and discussed traffic concepts.
2026 Budget: Outlook and Deficits
The 2026 budget was discussed in several committees and local councils. Following comprehensive planning in the Municipal Council and the responsible bodies, it was decided not to create a voluntary financial stabilization plan. The budget shows a total deficit of 16.253 million euros.
The revenues amount to 85.356 million euros, and the expenses amount to 101.609 million euros. This deficit will be cushioned by unchanged funds from the previous year. In addition, tax rates for property tax and business tax were set.
For residents, this means that investments in areas such as daycare centers, road construction, and leisure facilities are under financial pressure. However, the city has decided not to take on new loans and not to generate additional revenue through tax increases.
Daycare Centers, Road Construction, and Citizen Wishes
In several local councils, the financial planning for the new construction of the Genshagen daycare center was critically examined. The local councils of Genshagen and Ahrensdorf called for further discussions with the city administration and a local site visit before the final budget decision.
Additionally, in Genshagen, a proposal was made to assign snow removal and street cleaning to citizen initiatives – an idea the city administration is considering.
In the area of sports and leisure, there were specific proposals: The local council of Mietgendorf requested the purchase of rubber mats around the table tennis table and a tent for events. These proposals were included in the budget.
Generations and Social Affairs: Networking in the Forefront
The Senior Advisory Board advocated for more intergenerational encounters and plans the 1st Intergenerational Creative Gathering. In addition, the board is actively involved in the 2026 Citizen Budget and will submit its own proposals.
The Disability Advisory Board discussed topics around accessibility and inclusion, although no concrete decisions were made. Instead, preparations for a discussion at Märkische Heimat were initiated.
Building Planning and Traffic: Preliminary Drafts and Discussions
The Building Committee approved the preliminary draft of the land use plan and landscape plan. According to current building regulations, public participation is required to incorporate criticisms and improvement suggestions. The zoning plan No. 46 was also discussed.
In the Rhine Street and at the L79, new traffic concepts are under discussion, including the construction of a roundabout. In addition, the FREIE WÄHLER faction submitted several proposals for the expansion of sports and leisure facilities and the inclusion of 10% social housing in residential areas.
Outlook: March 2026 and the Next Steps
In March 2026, the 2026 budget will be finally approved by the Municipal Council. Before that, further citizen participation, local site visits, and committee meetings are planned. In addition, many events are planned in the districts – from Easter fires to sports tournaments.
