Strengthening Regional Economy – Intermunicipal Industrial Area Approved

In February 2026, the city of Frankenthal passed a unanimous resolution on the development of an intermunicipal industrial area in cooperation with the Verbandsgemeinde Lambsheim-Hessheim/OG Beindersheim. The goal is to create additional commercial and industrial land and to strengthen the regional economy in the long term.

The administration will now initiate discussions with the involved municipalities and expert offices, develop a basic concept, and assess funding opportunities. This cooperation is a milestone in regional economic development and could also secure jobs.

In addition, several emergency vehicles were approved for intermunicipal cooperation: a small alarm vehicle, two main firefighting vehicles, and a modular vehicle with hygiene facilities for emergency operations. The city is thus investing in security and emergency response capacity in the event of disasters.

Integration and Migration: Strengthening Diversity in the City

The Advisory Board for Migration and Integration actively promoted integration in February. One of the most important topics was the cooperation with the film project "Die Möllner-Briefe", which will be shown in March 2026. In addition, a new member was elected to the youth welfare committee – a step towards stronger participation of migrants in municipal committees.

Within the framework of the Project Group Frankenthal 2035, future-oriented ideas were discussed, and working groups for events such as the International Women's Breakfast and the International Festival were established. These projects show how Frankenthal actively promotes diversity and invests in the future.

Focus on Senior Citizen Work and Accessibility

The Senior Advisory Council focused intensively on topics such as mobility and digital integration in February. A new Integreat app was introduced, which better connects seniors to municipal services. In addition, the mobility course in the Ostpark was discussed – a project that strengthens accessibility and participation for older people.

As part of the anniversary planning for 2027 (450 years of city rights), initial ideas for the involvement of seniors were presented. The council thus sends an important signal for inclusive urban development.

Municipal Safety, Infrastructure, and Climate Protection

In addition to industrial planning and integration, infrastructure measures were also in focus in February. The landscape and civil engineering work in the Ostpark were tendered, and the redevelopment of the roundabout at Beindersheimer Straße is also in planning.

Another important project is the flood and heavy rain protection concept, which will be developed by a selected engineering firm. With this initiative, the city is responding to the challenges of climate change and investing in long-term safety.

In March 2026, further important events are planned: The Advisory Board for Migration and Integration is organizing the International Women's Breakfast, and the Senior Advisory Council will continue to focus on digital integration. In addition, the review of the city's subsidy regulations for event venues is in progress, which is significant for cultural and community events.
