Warendorf Wastewater Construction 2026: Investments in Infrastructure and Climate Protection
In February 2026, the city of Warendorf is increasing its investments in wastewater infrastructure. The Operations Committee focused on two key projects: the pressure pipe network in Neuwarendorf and the special area Aktivmuseum Landtechnik. Both measures contribute to water protection and climate compatibility and are part of the city's long-term planning.
Important Decisions in Warendorf's Wastewater Operations
The Warendorf Wastewater Operations is a key player in ensuring supply security and climate protection. In February 2026, two significant projects were the focus of the public session of the Operations Committee. These measures are not only technically demanding but also financially costly and politically relevant, as they shape the city's future infrastructure.
Pressure Pipe Network in Neuwarendorf: Planning and Implementation
During the meeting on February 10, 2026, the construction plan for the pressure pipe network in Neuwarendorf (Network 17.1) was discussed. With an investment volume of 105,000 euros and a total budget of 110,000 euros, the project is part of the planned modernization of the wastewater network. The construction is scheduled for early 2026 and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The planning has already undergone a Climate Check Level 2, confirming its climate compatibility. Thomas Meier from the Wastewater Operations presented the report, which also includes financial implications. The funds are included in the city of Warendorf's budget, underscoring the seriousness and feasibility of the measure.
Major Project in the Special Area Aktivmuseum Landtechnik
Another project discussed in the meeting is the construction of the pressure pipe network in the special area Aktivmuseum Landtechnik. With an investment amount of 1.15 million euros, this is a significantly larger undertaking. The goal is to divert sewage through a central cleaning plant (ZKA Warendorf), thereby improving water protection.
The planning includes the installation of approximately 5.4 km of pressure pipe lines and 43 property connection lines. Technical facilities such as intermediate pumping stations, shut-off valves, and flushing fittings will be installed. Construction work is scheduled to begin in spring or summer 2026, with the tender process already being prepared.
Special attention was given to the economic viability of the measure. According to the criteria of AEK 2023 (Wastewater Disposal Costs), measures in areas 1 and 2 are economically viable, while measures in area 3 are not implemented. The measures in Warendorf fall into the economically sensible areas.
Synergies with Other City Utilities and Climate Protection
In addition to the technical implementation, cooperation with other city utilities is also relevant. Synergy effects in the installation of supply lines with Warendorf City Utilities and the Fire Department were considered. This shows how interconnected urban planning is in Warendorf.
The impact on the water balance is deliberately kept to a minimum, which is also important within the context of the city's climate protection policy. The construction methods are chosen to minimize environmental stress—especially at water crossings, where the pressure pipe lines are laid using closed construction methods.
Outlook for the Future
The investments in the wastewater pipe network in Warendorf are not only technically necessary but also a sign of the city's long-term planning and responsibility. Both projects contribute to strengthening infrastructure, improving water protection, and simultaneously achieving climate protection goals. With implementation in 2026, Warendorf will also be seen as a pioneer in sustainable urban development in the region.
