Everswinkel: Urban Development in Focus – Fire Station, Renovations, and Traffic Planning
In February 2026, Everswinkel made key decisions in the areas of urban development and construction. The Building and Infrastructure Committee approved the new fire station in Alverskirchen and a range of renovation measures at schools, the town hall, and local roads. At the same time, traffic planning and safety aspects were discussed.
Urban Development in Everswinkel: What February 2026 Brought
The municipality of Everswinkel is actively focusing on the modernization and strengthening of its infrastructural foundations this year. Particular attention was given to the new construction of the fire station in Alverskirchen, comprehensive renovation work on public buildings, and the optimization of traffic and cycle paths.
The New Fire Station in Alverskirchen
The Building and Infrastructure Committee unanimously approved the construction of the new fire station. In February 2026, architect Torsten Kiefer presented the design, which is now completed in Performance Phase 3 (Design Stage). The plan includes a wooden structure with glued-laminated timber beams, a flat foundation, reinforced concrete slab, and a photovoltaic system.
Central technologies such as a water-to-water heat pump, underfloor heating, and both centralized and decentralized ventilation systems are intended to minimize energy consumption. The construction is scheduled to begin in January 2027, and the building permit application will be submitted to the Warendorf district in March 2026.
The total costs, including outfitting and furnishings, amount to 7.695 million euros. This represents a central investment impulse for the municipality, strengthening both safety and sustainability.
Renovation Measures on Local Roads and Public Buildings
In February, several renovation measures on local roads and public buildings were also approved. Notably:
- Wirtschaftsweg Schuter (1.3 km): Preliminary profiling with asphalt concrete and double surface treatment. Cost: 126,000 euros.
- Wirtschaftsweg north of Versmar 6 (800 m): Milling and installation of hard limestone gravel. Cost: 22,000 euros.
- Everswinkel Town Hall: Replacement of windows, fire-resistant glazing, and painting. Estimated cost: 190,000 euros.
- Gymnasium of the Integrated School: Replacement of doors and painting. Estimated cost: 28,000 euros.
- Alverskirchen Primary School: Waterproofing of the basement. Estimated cost: 20,000 euros.
- Gymnasium in Alverskirchen: Modernization of ceilings and lighting. Estimated cost: 50,000 euros.
Additionally, a funding application for window replacements in the transitional housing at Hovestraße 6 and 8 is being evaluated. These measures contribute to improving the quality of life in the municipality and reducing long-term operational costs.
Traffic Planning and Safety
The safety and attractiveness of traffic routes were also a central focus. Key points included:
- Bike racks at the bus stop on Freckenhorster Straße: Due to safety concerns, measures to prevent direct access onto the street are being examined.
- Cycling path on Holunderweg: Due to property boundaries, widening is not possible. The budget of 20,000 euros is insufficient, according to the administration, to cover the necessary repairs.
- Traffic survey at kindergarten buildings: A proposal to record traffic volumes before and after opening was discussed to assess necessary renovation measures.
- Council emphasizes the importance of cycling and pedestrian paths: Council member Wernery emphasized the need to improve traffic infrastructure to increase user numbers.
These measures demonstrate how sensitively Everswinkel is handling traffic planning and how it is placing safety and user-friendliness at the forefront.
Outlook: Sustainability and Investment as Key
The decisions made in February 2026 mark a milestone in Everswinkel’s urban development. The new fire station as a central investment site, the renovation of important local roads, and the optimization of the traffic infrastructure show how the municipality is investing in its future. At the same time, great importance is placed on sustainability, energy efficiency, and safety.
By combining sensible investments with targeted renovation measures, Everswinkel is not only becoming more livable, but also more resilient in the face of future challenges.
