In the former Volkswerft area in the central district of Franken, a new chapter is being written with the 3rd amendment to Zoning Plan 30c "Maritime Industrial Park Franzenshöhe." The planned area of 2.4 hectares will be put to new use with the construction of a shipbuilding hall measuring 35 meters in height and 120 x 130 meters in size.

The site is heavily contaminated, so encapsulation using sheet pile walls is planned. In addition, the Zuckergraben will be relocated to avoid contamination. The planning is being carried out through the standard procedure with an environmental report, and funding is managed by the urban development department without burdening the city's budget.

Energy Park and Infrastructure Measures

Another project that is being significantly advanced in April 2026 is Zoning Plan 93 "SWS Energy Park." This project plans for the construction of an 110 kV substation and a large battery to support renewable energy. The area of 5.85 hectares in the district of Lüssower Berg will be compensated through external measures in the municipality of Wendorf.

The planning was carried out through the standard procedure with public participation and disclosure, requiring only minor adjustments. The zoning plan will be adopted in April 2026, and the city-owned plots will then be transferred to the project developer.
