Modernization and Safety in Water Supply

Water supply and sewage disposal are central responsibilities of the municipality of Großenlüder. In March 2026, numerous decisions were made to secure, maintain, and modernize the infrastructure. These measures are not only crucial for supply security but also for the community's environmental and climate protection goals.

Maintenance and Modernization of Infrastructure

A key focus of the decisions was the maintenance and modernization of existing facilities. It was decided to renew the process control system of the water supply (Document B43/2026), which improves the control and monitoring of the water supply and minimizes system failures. Likewise, the renovation of the elevated water tank Eichenau (Document B51/2026) was approved in order to make the storage and distribution of drinking water more reliable.

Further investments include the renewal of the mixing equipment in the inlet of the Lüdertal wastewater treatment plant (Document B32/2026) as well as the installation of oxygen sensors at the "Kalte Lüder" wastewater treatment plant (Document B34/2026). These measures contribute to the improvement of wastewater treatment and the compliance with stricter environmental standards.

Ensuring Drinking Water Quality

Drinking water quality is another central topic. The municipality of Großenlüder has decided to commission a report on water losses in 2025 (Document B35/2026), which will show where and how much water is lost due to leaks. In parallel, a groundwater analysis of the deep wells in Großenlüder and Bimbach was ordered (Document B44/2026) to investigate the water supply sources for pollutants and impurities.

These measures are part of a comprehensive monitoring and prevention concept that is essential for public health and the sustainability of the water supply. In addition, it was decided to renew the water pipeline in the street "Am Wolfsacker" (Document B42/2026) in order to prevent leaks and quality losses.

Technical and Organizational Preparations

In addition to investments in the physical infrastructure, organizational and technical preparations were also made. The supply of water pipe components (Document B28/2026) and the supply and replacement of household water meters (Documents B29/2026 and B30/2026) were approved. These measures help increase transparency in water consumption and make billing more accurate.

Engineer services for the development of the remaining area in the construction site "Fuldaer Straße / Am Blankenauer" were also commissioned (Document B17/2026). These preparations are a prerequisite for the future water supply and sewage disposal in the new residential area.
