April 2026: Biesenthal Remains in Motion

In April 2026, Biesenthal presents itself as a city on the move: with investments in the future, financial security, and new planning initiatives. Here is the monthly review.

Future Steps and Investments Characterize April 2026 in Biesenthal

What Was Important This Month

  • New Administrative Building on Plottkeallee: The planning has been approved, and the demolition of the old building has been decided.
  • 2026 Financial Budget in Marienwerder: With a deficit of 447,900 € and investments of 1 million €.
  • Investments in Infrastructure: Renewal of lighting and surrounding design on several streets.
  • Grants for Associations: Breydin and Rüdnitz support cultural and social activities with a total of over 6,000 €.

Investments in the Future: Administration and Finance

April 2026 marks a milestone in the city's development: The new administrative building on Plottkeallee 5 in Biesenthal has moved into the next planning phase. Following the approval of the draft design (Phase 3) on October 29, 2025, the demolition of the former residential building at the same address was decided as a preparatory step. This move is a central part of the city's long-term development.

Financially, Biesenthal and its surrounding areas remain dynamic. The Amt Biesenthal-Barnim was granted a budget transfer of 656,000 € from the special fund "Zukunftspaket Brandenburg." Marienwerder also passed a supplementary budget, which was necessary due to a planned deficit and additional individual expenses. The financial budget was increased by 1 million €, among other things, through a court settlement regarding the Werbellinkkanal.

Infrastructure and Mobility: Better Routes

In the area of infrastructure and mobility, Biesenthal focused on sustainability and safety this month. A new lighting installation was approved in Ahornallee, Trappenweg, Schwanenweg, and Sperberweg with a volume of approximately 65,300 €. In addition, the surrounding design on Kirschallee 2–5 was awarded to Straßen- und Tiefbau GmbH Aschoff, with a contract value of 433,922.78 € (gross).

There were also news for hikers: Route inspections and marking work have been decided to ensure accessibility and safety. Moreover, an alternative route for the 66-Seen-Weg was established due to bridge construction, with detour signage in place until May 2026.

Culture and Community: Support and Presence

Biesenthal continues to strengthen cultural and social structures. In Breydin, a total of 1,900 € was granted to associations from a budget of 2,000 €. This includes institutions such as Burg Breydin, Schloßpark Trampe, and the FF Tuchen-Klobbicke. In Rüdnitz, even 4,679 € was allocated to associations, exceeding the available budget.

The tourism association Naturpark Barnim e.V. was also represented at the Grüne Woche in Berlin with a total planning budget of 30,000 € – an important platform to increase the visibility of Biesenthal and its surrounding areas in tourism.

Forest and Environment: Maintenance and Use

In the area of forest and environment, Biesenthal focused on active forestry and participation in April 2026. A woodcutting operation in the city forest was awarded to Mercer Holz Nord GmbH, with a contract value of 210,165 € (gross). In addition, the Biesenthal Forest Advisory Board held a public meeting, where no financial or legal decisions were made, but important reports from working groups were presented.

Between Investment and Budget Discipline: Urban Development in Balance

The developments in April show an urban development approach that combines investments with budget discipline. The administrative renovation, infrastructure measures, and support for associations are examples of a future-oriented, yet pragmatic city-building process. At the same time, Biesenthal remains transparent and prudent in its financial dealings, as is evident particularly in the supplementary budget decisions.

Outlook: May 2026 in Planning

May 2026 is expected to be shaped by the implementation of April's decisions. The demolition of the old administrative building will begin, the hiking trail works will be put into action, and the financial budget decisions will be reviewed in detail. In addition, the Forest Advisory Board may discuss new forestry plans in May.
