Urban Development in Burgrieden: Focus in April 2026

In the April session of 2026, the municipal council of Burgrieden made several key decisions in the area of urban development. In addition to the modernization of the primary school and the village thoroughfare in Rot, changes to zoning plans and renovation projects were also in focus. These measures reflect the municipality's long-term strategy to strengthen its infrastructure while pursuing climate-friendly solutions.

Focus April 2026: Urban Development in Burgrieden

The April meeting of Burgrieden’s municipal council was marked by a wide range of construction projects and urban development initiatives. This series of decisions shows how the municipality is modernizing its infrastructure while securing jobs and implementing forward-looking energy concepts.

Primary School: Renovation and Energy Efficiency

The primary school in Burgrieden was a central topic in several aspects during the April meeting. First, the renewal of the heating system was decided. The existing system from 1996 was in need of renovation, and after a comprehensive cost and economic analysis, the municipal council opted for a hybrid system consisting of an air/water heat pump and a gas condensing boiler.

The investment costs for this option amount to approximately 595,500 euros, with a KfW grant of 130,000 euros being possible. The renovation is planned for the summer holidays of 2027. Implementing this measure is a central step toward climate neutrality, as it significantly reduces annual energy costs and allows for 70% of the electricity to be self-consumed.

Another project is the upgrade of the existing photovoltaic system to increase self-consumption. Two storage units with a total capacity of 33 kWh are to be installed to increase self-consumption to up to 90%. The total costs amount to approximately 62,000 euros, with a payback period of about 7 years. The measure is scheduled for the autumn/winter of 2026 and will be implemented closely in conjunction with the heating renovation.

In addition to these energy projects, the renovation of the changing rooms at the teaching swimming pool was also decided. The work includes the replacement of the ventilation system, renewal of pipelines, and installation of additional exhaust systems. The company Schlecht from Laupheim was awarded the contract. The costs amount to approximately 35,357 euros gross.

Zoning Plan Amendments and Industrial Development

Another central point was the zoning plan amendment "Beim Flugplatz," which was agreed upon in collaboration with the company ALBA plc & Co. KG. The goal is to legally secure further use of the company's premises and to secure jobs. The area is currently designated as a GE-industrial zone, which no longer meets the latest TA-Luft requirements. The municipality also plans to editorially standardize the zoning plans "Beim Flugplatz" and "Beim Flugplatz II."

In the preliminary contract, it was stipulated that ALBA will bear the costs for studies, inspections, and planning services explicitly required by the municipality or expert authorities. The municipality remains responsible for the planning procedure.

Village Thoroughfare Rot: Renovation and Infrastructure

The renovation of the village thoroughfare in Rot was another central topic. The measures include the renovation of hydrant pits, sewer lines, and inlet pits. The total costs for the municipal measures amount to approximately 214,000 euros. An agreement was reached with the state of Baden-Württemberg, and the tendering process for the project was carried out. Implementation is planned for 2027, and the engineering firm ES tiefbauplanung was commissioned with further planning services.

New Construction and Building Permits

In April, several building permits were also granted. This includes the construction of a single-family house with an annex and a double garage under the simplified building permit procedure. Another project is the construction of a semi-detached house on Blumenstraße, also under the simplified procedure. The municipality has also approved the construction of a storage/garden equipment room.

Renovation Area "Town Center"

The municipal council has decided to start the preparatory investigations for the renovation area "Town Center" according to §141 of the Building Code. The goal is to make the town center more attractive and to modernize the public space and municipal buildings. The measure is supported within the framework of the state renovation program of Baden-Württemberg. The investigations cover an area of approximately 38 hectares and include a survey of property owners.

Outlook

The April meeting underlines the strategic orientation of the municipality of Burgrieden to strengthen its infrastructure while at the same time focusing on sustainability and climate protection. The investments in energy efficiency, renovation, and zoning planning show how Burgrieden is responding to future challenges. The implementation of the approved projects will be crucial in the coming months to achieve the long-term goals of the municipal development concept "Burgrieden 2040."
