Burgrieden looks back: Key decisions in February 2026
February 2026 marked decisive steps for Burgrieden in education, infrastructure, and renovation projects. The municipal council unanimously supported forward-looking initiatives. Here is the monthly review.
Education and Infrastructure in Focus
What was important this month
- The Burgrieden Primary School is becoming a full-day school – a unanimous decision by the municipal council to implement the legal requirement for full-day childcare.
- The water supply in Bühl and Hochstetten is being tendered anew – with a winning bid of nearly 223,000 euros.
- The Grasweg at Ulmer Kreuz will be upgraded – with a budget of 80,000 euros gross.
- The renovation of moisture damage in the former school building in Bühl has been postponed.
- Six construction projects were unanimously approved – ranging from single-family homes to commercial storage areas.
Full-Day School: A Step into the Future
In February, the Burgrieden municipal council unanimously decided to advance the implementation of a full-day school at Burgrieden Primary School. The decision followed legal changes in the Social Code Book VIII (SGB VIII), which guarantee a legal entitlement to full-day childcare for children of primary school age. The administration is tasked with submitting the application for conversion into a full-day school under § 4a SchulG.
This move is not only an offer for parents but also an investment in the future viability of Burgrieden's educational facilities. Full-day schools help stabilize student numbers and provide additional childcare and support services.
Infrastructure: Water Supply and Road Construction
In the area of infrastructure, two clear decisions were made. The contract for the water supply in Bühl and Hochstetten was awarded to Firma Schwall, which won among seven bidders with a net offer of 223,233.66 euros. The work is part of the 2026 budget plan and aims to ensure and modernize the drinking water supply in these districts.
Another milestone was the approval of the Grasweg at Ulmer Kreuz redevelopment (Flst.Nr. 803/2). With a budget of 80,000 euros gross (including drainage and planning costs), the road will be redesigned. The planning is being handled by ES tiefbauplanung, and the work is scheduled for the 2026 construction period.
Renovation Projects: Prioritization and Coordination
The renovation of moisture damage in the basement area of the former school in Bühl has been postponed, as the administration will be tasked with implementing the measures in a single phase, supported by Mr. Laux. This step illustrates how the municipal council sets priorities – not always is rapid construction the key, but the long-term stability of buildings.
The costs for the renovation of the basement area are estimated at 55,260 euros gross for three construction phases. This amount is already included in the 2026 budget, so the projects do not need to be delayed.
Construction Projects: Residential and Commercial Development
In February, six construction projects were unanimously approved, including the new construction of single- and two-family homes as well as a commercial storage area. The approvals were made using simplified building permit procedures, highlighting the efficiency of the construction process.
A conflict of interest case was reported for one construction project, but it did not affect the voting. This shows how transparent and legally compliant the decision-making processes are in Burgrieden.
Transparency and Unity in Politics
The public session on 23.02.2026 in the Bürgersaal town hall was an example of transparent and unanimous decision-making. Mayor Frank Högerle chaired the session, which lasted from 19:01 to 21:53. The administration was well-prepared, and the agenda items were drawn from the documents SV/006/2026 to SV/009/2026.
The legal basis for the decisions was § 4a SchulG (full-day school), the Municipal Code (GemO), and the Municipal Budget Ordinance (GemHVO) (water supply).
Outlook for March 2026
March will show how quickly the implementation of the full-day school progresses and whether the renovation work at the Bühl school moves into concrete planning. The water supply in Bühl/Hochstetten and the upgrading of the Grasweg are further project markers that could gain momentum in March.
Overall, the Burgrieden municipal council has clearly shown its priorities: focus on education, infrastructure, and stability, combined with transparent decision-making and future orientation.
