Wiesmoor in March 2026: An In-Depth Look at Municipal Finances
In March 2026, Wiesmoor focused on numerous financial decisions and reports. The Committee for Finance, Economy, and Tourism addressed quarterly reports, fee adjustments, investment loans, and marketing measures. Here is a detailed analysis of the most important developments.
Financial Reports and Quarterly Balance
On March 4, 2026, the Committee for Finance, Economy, and Tourism convened to discuss the quarterly financial report for the fourth quarter of 2025. This report, under the proposal IV/033/2026, provides a detailed overview of the city's finances. It particularly analyzes the financial status and the development of expenses and revenues. These quarterly reports are a crucial milestone for transparency and planning in municipal budgeting.
Adjustments to Fees and Charges
Another focal point was the adjustment of fees at the Ottermeer beach area. The last adjustment took place in 2012, and due to rising operational costs, especially for personnel and maintenance, a new calculation was necessary. New fees for paddle boats, beach chairs, and stand-up paddling have been adjusted, and entrance fees for the swimming season have also been increased.
Additionally, a proposal for adjusting cemetery fees for the period 2026–2028 was presented. The new calculation aims at cost-covering billing, with considerable increases in fees. 50% of the usage rights costs will be charged, and for graves in the communal grave site, a 100% fee will be applied. These changes were developed by the firm Heyder + Partner and are part of the city's cost transparency strategy.
Loans and Investments
In December 2025, Wiesmoor secured substantial investment loans to finance future projects. Loans of 500,000 € (term 5 years, interest rate 2.930%) and 1.85 million € (term until October 30, 2026, interest rate 2.550%) were obtained from RVB. Additionally, a loan of 1.4 million € was agreed with NBank, with a term of 30 years and an interest rate of 3.910%. These loans are part of the city's long-term financial planning and will be used for investments in infrastructure, tourism, and community projects.
Marketing Measures and Budget Use
A motion by the FWW faction concerns the installation of marketing signs in the towns. The financing comes from the existing marketing budget, with costs of approximately 1,000 € per stand. The signboards themselves cost approximately 80 € each. Implementation will be carried out gradually and within the annual funds. This measure is part of the city's strategic marketing planning and aims to support the tourist and economic upturn.
Outlook and Relevance for the Future
The March events in the areas of finance and budget illustrate how complex municipal financial planning is. From the quarterly balance to fee adjustments and investment loans—each measure contributes to the long-term stability and development of Wiesmoor. The transparency and involvement of the factions in these decision-making processes are crucial for the trust of the citizens and the sustainable development of the city.
