Bremervörde in March 2026: Development, Planning and Decisions

In March 2026, the town of Bremervörde took important steps in urban development, administrative planning, and financial transparency. Here is a monthly review for the citizens.

Building, Planning, Managing: March in Numbers and Topics

What was important this month

  • New residential area "Vörder Feld Nord" planned with 80 plots and innovative rainwater management.
  • Local council for Spreckens to be re-established – a step towards stronger local democracy.
  • The 1st supplementary budget for 2025/2026 was adopted; financial stability remains intact.
  • Unanimous approval of accounts for the years 2020 and 2021 – financial transparency is ensured.
  • Donations and grants support cultural and sports projects – support for the local community.
  • Traffic planning in focus: 30 km/h zones, pedestrian speed, and nature protection.

New Residential Area "Vörder Feld Nord": Innovation in Construction

In March, the development of the B-Planning Area No. 125 "Vörder Feld Nord" was a central topic. The new residential area will include 80 plots with approximately 100 housing units. Particular attention was paid to sustainable infrastructure and environmental compatibility.

Access is via a roundabout on Harsefelder Straße, secured by calmed traffic zones with pedestrian speed limits. Footpaths are not planned in these areas to reduce traffic. The planned streets A to C will be developed as 30 km/h zones with one-sided footpaths and a width of 4.75 meters.

A central element is rainwater management: Each plot must retain at least 2 m³ of rainwater. Surface water is guided through green strips and, in heavy rain, disposed of in depressions. A rainwater retention basin to the north of the construction site with a storage capacity of 1,596 m³ is planned. In total, 84 trees are planned – a number exceeding legal requirements.

Initial access is via construction roads with thin asphalt, later to be resurfaced. Footpaths and cycle paths will have widths of 2.70 m to 3.50 m, and roadways will be mostly paved, with the 30 km/h zone remaining asphalted.

Local Council Spreckens: Strengthening Local Democracy

The City Council unanimously decided to establish a local council for the district of Spreckens starting from the term 2026/2031. This strengthens local participation and considers administrative priorities at the district level.

The decision was made during the 19th session of the Council on 17 March 2026. It also included the amendment of the main by-law under Section 4 (1) and Section 5 of the main by-law. The creation of a local council is a milestone in decentralized municipal politics and supports the better representation of districts.

Financial Security and Transparency

The 1st Supplementary Budget for 2025/2026 was unanimously adopted. The debt level of the city stood at approximately 50 million euros at the end of 2021, which is within the financial plan.

Also unanimously adopted were the approvals for the financial years 2020 and 2021 as well as the annual accounts for 2020, which showed a total result of 2,519,174.41 €. The regular surplus of 2,383,408.80 € will be added to the surplus reserve.

In addition, donations and in-kind donations were accepted: For example, the Sparkasse Foundation supported the Vörder Seefest 2025 with 5,000 €, and the Support Association of the Findorff Realschule donated 3,648.00 €. These funds support cultural and sports projects that strengthen the community.

Sustainability and Traffic: Planning in Detail

The traffic planning for the residential area "Vörder Feld Nord" focuses on sustainable solutions. In addition to 30 km/h zones and calmed traffic areas, there is also an emphasis on pedestrian and cycling infrastructure. The construction widths of the paths range from 2.70 m to 3.50 m, providing sufficient space for pedestrians and cyclists.

In addition, the integration of nature is a central aspect: Not only through tree planting, but also through green strips and rainwater retention basins, which collect surface water and mitigate heavy rain events. These measures contribute to the climate resilience of the city.

Outlook and Conclusion

March 2026 in Bremervörde was a month of constructive action. With the planning of new residential areas, the establishment of a local council, and clear financial planning, the city has set important directions for the future. At the same time, Bremervörde is focusing on sustainable traffic planning, climate-friendly concepts, and social responsibility.

Residents can rely on a transparent and citizen-oriented policy – and on a city that keeps development, sustainability, and community in equal focus.
