Progress in Primary School Campus Planning

In April 2026, the Education and Social Committee made concrete progress in the planning of the primary school campus. The proposal from the FPD/WBG group, which relates to the campus budget, was unanimously accepted and forwarded to the next specialist committee.

A central challenge remains the use of the basement rooms in the existing school center. Although these rooms are included in the planning, they cannot be used independently or in an accessible manner. Therefore, the administration is tasked with continuing discussions with the Osnabrück District and drafting a new agreement on usage, billing, and ownership.

New Cooperation with the Osnabrück District

The existing agreement from 2020 on the use of the school center will be revoked. Instead, a new contract is being drafted, which will regulate both usage and billing. Particular importance is placed on clarifying ownership, as the city and the district hold differing positions. If an amicable resolution cannot be reached, the involvement of a lawyer is planned.

Another important topic is the use of the gymnasium. Since there are still unresolved issues, the new agreement will only be finalized once these are clarified.

The reorganization of the bus stop at the school center is another topic gaining attention. A common solution for the gymnasium and the future primary school is the goal. The Mayor is tasked with drafting a corresponding agreement with the Osnabrück District.
