April 2026: Gottenheim Remains in Motion

April 2026 in Gottenheim was marked by completions, cost savings, and new planning. Here is the monthly review for residents and interested parties.

Community Strengthens, Costs Drop – Gottenheim in Motion

What Was Important This Month

  • „Caring Community“ Project Completed – The flagship project by the association "Generation Gemeinsam" e.V. was confirmed by the Municipal Council and successfully implemented.
  • Cost Savings on Construction Work – Electrical installation, heating, and plumbing works turned out significantly cheaper than planned.
  • Last Travel Grant for the Sports Club – The women’s team received a final subsidy, as the association funding guidelines have changed.
  • Tender Cancelled Due to Cost Overrun – The infrastructure works for Flst. No. 7291 and 7300 will be re-tendered in the fall.
  • Construction Price Index Rises Further – Cost development remains an issue, especially for plumbing work.

Completion of a Community Project

The Municipal Council acknowledged the final report of the „Caring Community“ project. Implemented for several years by the association „Generation Gemeinsam“ e.V. under the leadership of Ms. Eitenbichler, this project is a milestone in the city’s social work. It aims to promote social participation and mutual support within the community. With the confirmation of the report, the final step in the project's implementation has been completed, and the results can now contribute to future work.

Cost Savings on Construction Work

Another important topic was the awarding of construction contracts for electrical installation, heating, and plumbing works. The tasks were assigned to the companies Danzeisen and Maurer, with total costs amounting to 53,310.81 €, significantly below the original budget of 144,320 € (as of 30.09.2022). The savings of 91,009.15 € demonstrate that transparent tenders and precise planning can create cost advantages even in uncertain economic conditions.

Final Support for the Sports Club

The Municipal Council decided to grant the women’s team of the sports club a travel cost subsidy of 1,575 €. However, this is the last such grant, as the association funding guidelines have changed. The decision shows that Gottenheim continues to support local sports, even as the framework conditions evolve.

Cancellation of Tender for Infrastructure Works

The tender for the infrastructure works on Flst. No. 7291 and 7300 was cancelled due to a cost overrun of 47 %. The lowest bid was 94,421.22 €, while the planned costs were only 64,358.89 €. The administration was tasked with re-tendering the works in autumn 2026, in order to allow for a more realistic calculation. This illustrates that rising construction costs remain a challenge even for smaller projects.

Rising Construction Costs – A Continuous Issue

The construction price index has risen by 18.1 % since September 2022, causing the costs for several trades to exceed the original planning significantly. Particularly in plumbing, the difference amounted to 1,102.93 €. This development clearly indicates that the city of Gottenheim must plan for a higher financial buffer in future projects to account for unexpected costs.

Gottenheim Between Planning and Implementation

April 2026 shows that Gottenheim remains active in both social and infrastructural planning. At the same time, it becomes clear that rising construction costs and changing funding conditions bring new challenges. The ability to successfully complete projects like „Caring Community“ underlines the stability and determination of the municipality. At the same time, the cost situation for construction measures requires new planning security and flexibility.

Conclusion and Outlook

April 2026 in Gottenheim was marked by completions, cost reductions, and new planning. The implementation of the flagship project and the cost savings on construction work reflect the work of the municipal administration and council members. At the same time, rising inflation and the construction price index are noticeable, meaning the city will need to expect a new tender for important infrastructure works in autumn 2026. With a clear focus on sustainability, transparency, and social responsibility, Gottenheim will continue to remain in motion in the coming months.
